CiteProof / Vendors
A verification layer, not another model.
CiteProof checks citations against public court records with deterministic rules — no model in the pipeline. If your product drafts briefs, call the API and show what was checked, with the evidence on the page.
What it is
- Cites-only checks. Send pre-extracted citation strings; no brief text ever leaves your servers. Existence and identity only — the confidentiality-first shape.
- Canadian coverage included. The same key checks Canadian cites against CanLII when enabled — same quota, same spend, same record shape.
- Per-key monthly quotas. Each vendor key meters its own submits; over quota reads 429 for that key, never a slowdown for anyone else.
- Signed records. Every paid check binds to its brief (SHA-256 audit block) so a filed copy proves which bytes it checked.
What it is not
- Not certification. Nothing CiteProof produces certifies a filing or proves diligence. Vendor surfaces must say checked by CiteProof on [date] — never "verified by CiteProof."
- Not good law. Existence and quote accuracy only; support and Shepard's-style treatment stay with citators.
- Not legal advice. Attorney review is always required; Rule 11 diligence belongs to the filing lawyer.
How it works
| 1. Sign in with a paid account | Vendor keys issue to paid accounts only — the API has no free tier, matching the web product's paid checks. |
|---|---|
| 2. Mint a key | Open the vendor console, name a key, pick the least scope it needs. The plaintext shows once, then never again. |
| 3. Submit and poll | POST a brief or citation strings, poll the record endpoint, render the finding rows. See the API reference. |
| 4. Display honestly | Show checked-on dates and snapshot dates beside every finding. The display rules ship with the vendor agreement. |
Limits and honesty rules
- Vendor keys are metered monthly (see your console for the current quota); hourly per-key rate limits apply on top.
- Upstream failure degrades, never invents: unresolvable citations read couldn't check with a reason, never clean.
- Keys are bearer credentials: store them server-side, rotate with the console, revoke the moment one leaks.

Volume packs
Vendor packs buy the same generic brief credits — one per completed check, reserved up front, released on failed and empty runs. No second currency, no separate spend contract. Monthly per-key quotas still apply on top; a Scale buyer splits CI and prod keys.
